We're Back!

Rimu Tahi has been very busy and are now going to try and make sure you know what we've been up to. Stay tuned!

For the last few weeks, we have been very busy preparing for our cross country.  Our year 4-8 had their run at the farm on Friday.  Our year 1 -3 will be running our cross country here at school on Friday next week.  So please come along and support our effort.

We had our asTTle assessment last week and, I think we all did our best.  We are very busy at school working on our global taonga so please support us when we bring home activities to complete.

We have a number of late arrivals to school in the morning.  It is important for all children to be at school before prayer and notices for the day and week are being discussed.  Our first part of the day is just as important as the rest or our day.

Video and pictures of the cross country will follow in the weeks ahead.

Have a blessed week

A lot has happened lately in Rimutahi Whanau.

                                                             Our EOTC Week

We had our Outdoor Education week which was a lot of fun learning activities. Our first day of EOTC at school we swapped around doing outdoor art. We have some very talented  students in this area.  Athletics was our next activity on the second day.  It was great to see children in their different house colours.  Parents were involved to finish up our race, they  raced our senior students.  Great efforts and great results by everyone involved.  In the afternoon we had a visit from Prime Minister Bill English and MP Chris Bishop.  This was the highlight of our day.  Our senior students prepared  a formal welcome for them, and it was great to see him in person as we've only seen him in pictures and on T.V.
On Wednesday we travelled to Avalon Park for our play day.   We left school in the morning and when we arrived there we had morning tea before the teachers took us upstairs to the Marine classroom.  We were introduced to the teachers at the Marine Education Centre and afterwards we went over to the place where the sea creatures were kept and looked after.  We were able to pick up some of the sea creatures after we were introduced on how to handle the sea creatures.
We picked up some creatures from the rocks and sea and we were able to look at them closely and asked questions about them.
We left the Marine at lunch time for the park.  When we arrived there we had lunch and a little play before we head back to school.
Our Outdoor Education week was a blast.  We learnt a lot and above all we enjoyed the time to learn outside the classroom.
